The Ghostbusters team, from the original 1984 film, was made up of Peter Venkmann (Bill Murray), Raymond Stantz (Dan Aykroyd) and Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) so this trio makes a good fancy dress idea for groups of three people.
There are also additional ghost characters which can be added to the group so you could dress someone up as Slimer the green ghost, the Stay Puffed Marsh Mallow man or any other ghost fancy dress outfit. if a girl is part of the group she could be dressed as Dana Barret the Sigourney Weaver character and if a nerd wants to come along they could be dressed as Louis Tulley the Rick Moranis character.

The Ghostbusters have a finale where they must battle destructor character from their own imagination. Stantz tries tot hink of someone that could never do any harm and comes up with the Stay Puft Marshmallow man. This huge creature starts attacking the city and they destroy him in the finale by “merging streams”.
