The flower power era gives lots of opportunities for fun fancy dress. For a good hippy costume you can go for a brightly coloured, tie dyed dress and some long flowing locks of hair with flowers in them.
You can make your own hippy style t-shirt or dress by taking a white piece of clothing and smearing various clothes paint colours on it to give it that 60s look. Neon pink, yellow and blue tend to work really well.
For accessories you try out some peace badges, a guitar (real or inflatable) and a fake joint.

For men it is easy to make a funny hippy outfit. Go for colourful clothes, long unkempt hair, john lennon style glasses (perhaps coloured), huge flared trousers and a fake spliff.
