To get the perfect John McEnroe fancy dress look you need to combine a few things. The hair is a really important part of getting this costume right. Go for a big curly wig – although not an afro. If your natural hair is like this then obviously just use that instead. You’ll need a tragic eighties red hair band as well.
Clothing wise just go for classic white tennis shorts and t-shirt. However remember that you’ll to go for something that looks like the kind of thing that would be worn in the eighties. So avoid the newer types of tennis shirt which are made with special breathable fabrics. Just go for classic white cotton. Also try to think about the types of tennis shirt manufacturers who were big at the time. So, for instance, in the picture above McEnroe is wearing a Sergio Tachinni tennis shirt with red and black stripes. Try to find something similar.
