Merlin Fancy Dress
Merlin is the famous good wizard in the Lord of the Rings so any wizard fancy dress outfit will be good. A staff makes a good accessory.
Sauron Fancy Dress
Sauron is the evil wizard. He was always clad in white so go for the usual wizard outfit but all in white.
Legolas fancy Dress
For the perfect Legolas fancy dress go for pointy ears, a flowing blonde wig and a suitable robe. Tolkien described Legolas as a ‘strange elf, clad in green and brown’. So remember to act strange and wear green and brown for your legolas fancy dress costume.
Gollum Fancy Dress
For a gollum costume getting the face right is very important. Fortunately there are plenty of latex gollum face masks available online which make this easy. Once you have that the main thing is posture. So when you are dressed as Gollum you should be hunched over and drag yourself around. Try and practice the distinctive Gollum voice as well by saying things like “My Precious”. For clothing the only thing that gollum wears is a lion cloth so you might decide to go for a flesh coloured morph suit and loin cloth to get this look right.
Arwen
Arwen is a really look to go for. It’s a great excuse to wear a long flowing robe. Team the dress up with a tiara and some elf ears and you have the look spot on.
Gimli the Dwarf
This is a great idea if you are a dwarf or just really short or something. If you are a tall person you may struggle to pull this one off. One thing you could do is walk around on your knees and just pretend you are short.
To get the gimli look you will needs a long pleated beard, a dwarven helmet and a fancy dress axe. So big leather shoulder pads would be pretty cool as well.
