Scottish Inventor Fancy Dress Ideas
Many of the famous inventions that the world takes for granted were invented by Scots. So an interesting Scottish fancy dress idea would be to go as a famous inventor. The free most renowned Scottish inventors are John Logie Baird (television) Alexander Graham Bell (Telephone) and Alexander Fleming (penicillin).
So a lab coat, a grey wig or dyed grey hair along with some fancy dress inventor accessories would make this work. It won’t be easy to guess – but that’s part of the fun. As an accessory you could take along an old style telephone, a toy television or some bits from a broken down real television. For a penicillin your accessory could be a petri dish with some fungus at the bottom.
Highland Cow Fancy Dress
The highland cow is uniquely associated with Scotland. How about dressing up in a big shaggy brown coat (best with a hood you can pull up), a viking hat with horns and grow your fringe long to comb it over.

There are a few main elements of a burns fancy dress costume. Big sideburns, rosy cheeks, a frilly neckerchief and an old fashioned suit with the collar raised.
You should also commit to memory a few Burns poems to blurt out at appropriate moments. So if you are trying to woo a young lady suddenly piping up with ‘My love is a like a red, red rose’ will be perfect.
Oil rig worker fancy dress
Scotland is famous for the the oil industry in the North which extracts oil and gas from the North sea. So an oil rig worker fancy dress outfit would be a nice subtle scottish fancy dress idea.

Edinburgh Castle Fancy Dress
Edinburgh castle is the famous building perched on top of the mound in Edinburgh. You are going to have to go home made with this one and a trip to the supermarket is in order so you can get lots of old cardboard boxes. Paint the boxes grey with strips of green then sellotape to your self to model a castle. Get some rolled up cardboard, in the style of a dunces cap, to wear as a hat to form a turret on your head.
